COVID-19 Stats

This data is sourced from https://dph.georgia.gov/covid-19-daily-status-report, which states that a "Confirmed case" is defined by:

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 by date of earliest known sign of illness.
Please note that these data represent our most current understanding of the cases at the time of report.
The most recent days of these trend data are impacted by a reporting lag that varies based on how the case is reported to public health and are subject to change.

This graph is called an Epidemic Curve (epi curve). According to the CDC, this type of graph should not be used to determine whether or not an ongoing outbreak is ending:

It can be difficult to say when the outbreak is over because of the reporting delay. The delay means that the curve for the most recent 3 weeks always
looks like the outbreak could be ending even during an active outbreak. The full shape of the curve is clear only after the outbreak is over.
